Rail in Central & Eastern Europe - Overview
Much lively discussion about recent industry developments and future challenges was to be heard at Rail in Central & Eastern Europe 2008. Speakers debated the path to ensuring effective regulatory bodies and reducing barriers for new operators, whilst participants also heard from those who have successfully seized new opportunities in the region. Financing was a theme throughout the two days, with the all new Funding Forum providing an arena for in-depth analysis of the opportunities available. Furthermore, rail's excellent environmental credentials were praised and attendees debated how the sector could increase its market share of both passenger and freight transport. Over the course of the two days, attendees were able to build relationships with new and existing contacts from the industry and take advantage of the excellent networking opportunities available, including an informal drinks reception.
