Case study: A technology driven approach to handling peaks in demand

Peaks in online shopping sales during seasonal holidays can prove a massive challenge for delivery organisations to meet demand. During one day of the 2014 Black Friday peak weekend, a major U.S. carrier used RouteSmart's web services to route 1.6 million addresses. Within a very short processing window, 26,000 routes were created in order to meet service commitments for major e-commerce retailers. This presentation will demonstrate how route optimisation software underpinned this incredible feat, alongside other examples where Routesmart’s technology has been central to last-mile strategies.

Session Two: E-tailers as a force for change in e-commerce delivery

Competition for market share of the booming e-commerce market is becoming increasingly fierce. Many e-tailers and online shopping platforms are showing greater interest in delivery standards as extensions of their brand. Some e-tailers have even gone so far as to develop their own delivery solutions.

11:45

Case study: Proactive partnerships between delivery providers and e-tailers

The move towards privatisation around the world provides opportunities for new forms of partnership between retailers and postal operators. In an unprecedented move, Alibaba Group has invested in SingPost and made provision for future joint-ventures and closer collaboration. This presentation will explore how the partnership will enable both Alibaba and SingPost to benefit from the other’s unique expertise to develop international e-commerce in Southeast Asia.

Once again it was a very useful event for me...It’s important that we can be sure of the quality of the Marketforce conference, it has always been worth the time and travel.
Member of the Board for E-commerce and Logistics, Estonian Post

I have to say this was one of the best conferences of its type I have attended and I enjoyed and learned a great deal from most speakers. The time built into each day to network was much appreciated and I particularly liked the ‘speed networking’ session on Operations Day.

Globally, the conference offers a good opportunity to gather information on portal markets.
