Water Market Reform

Laying firm foundations for the new market

Radisson Blu Portman, London

Water Market Reform brought together over 150 senior stakeholders from water companies, Ofwat, the Government, and the supply chain ahead of major legislative changes coming into force in 2017 and beyond.

The water industry is undergoing fundamental change. The shadow market for non-household customers opens in October 2016, with full competition from April 2017.  As well as ensuring the right framework and processes are in place, WaSCs and WoCs must make key decisions on how to position themselves within the new market. At the same time, upstream reform is beginning in earnest and the planning for the proposed opening of the domestic retail market by 2020 is getting underway. Water Market Reform provided the forum to examine the market, take stock of the reforms and hone business strategies.
