Life Assurance Strategy Group

Overview

Introducing the Life Assurance Strategy Group:

The Life Assurance Strategy Group is an independent economic forum comprising a small group of select senior executives from across the life assurance industry. The group meets on a quarterly basis, and at each meeting members are addressed by high-profile guest speakers from the life assurance industry as well as related government, regulatory bodies and commentators.

Speakers generally address the group for 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes of discussion under the Chatham House Rule. This provides an excellent opportunity for members to gain a strong feel for market developments and the changing economic and regulatory climate. Discussions are designed to assist key business decisions.

In 2008-09, the Life Assurance Strategy Group will focus on the following issues of critical importance to the industry:

  • Assessing the long-term future of the occupational pensions market: the strategic implications for life assurers
  • What scope for success do variable annuities have in the UK market?
  • Generating demand through appealing to consumer aspirations: the rise of lifestyle products
  • Addressing the escalating UK pensions liability: what reform is needed?
  • Exploiting opportunities for growth in the post-retirement market
  • Analysing differing patterns of asset accumulation among generational groups: the implications for life assurers

Group membership and participation at meetings will be on an annual subscription basis. To preserve the select nature of the group, membership is by invitation only.

Organisations invited to the group include:

AEGON, AXA Sun Life, Co-operative Insurance Society, Friends Provident, HBOS, HSBC Life, LV=, Legal and General, Living Time, Norwich Union Life, Partnership Assurance, Prudential, Reliance Mutual Insurance, Royal Bank of Scotland, Royal Liver Assurance, Royal London Group, Scottish Widows, Standard Life, Zurich Financial Services
